Il Casale

Few words to introduce our Family, if you wish to come and visit us as Guests. The Casale is set within an estate of 10 hectares, mainly cultivated with cereals, which belongs to an area dedicated to agriculture and focused also on tourism. Tivoli has two Unesco Sites part of World Heritage: Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este; and also Villa Gregoriana which is a Fai site.
Rome is about 25 km away, and can be easily reached via the highway, whose entrance is 1 km away.
The building is reported in the plan of Piranesi (XVIIIth century)with the name Casale De Angelis; since almost one hundred years belongs to the Colleoni family. It is located in the lower area of  the archaeological siteof Hadrian's Villa  and its foundations date back to the times of Hadrian (II century AD).
Near the present entrance there is a vaulted Crypt of hadrianic times, on top of which in medieval times a tower was built: today is “hidden” in the masonry, but during the last works of renovation gibelline battlements in the shape of a dovetail were discovered. Subsequent alterations led to the present appearance of the Casale.
Our family feels very privileged to live in this place. The surrounding Roman countryside and the gardens rich of slowly flowing waters provide an incredibly calm and peaceful environment that the Colleoni wish to share with their Guests.
Our rooms are furnished with great care, equipped with private bathrooms and air-conditioning.Whatever you need, supermarkets, restaurants, pharmacies and much more are within reach at walking distance.

I can only confirm the other reviews. This is a great B&B at a unique location and a perfect starting point for visiting Tivoli, Rome and Lazio. Aanrader!

Casale Colleoni – Italian holidays off the tourist-hot-spots
Villa Adriana, which is a part of Tivoli, is just a 60 minutes drive on the motorway from Fiumicino airport. Still, it is a typical part of rural and small-town Italy. The B&B is ideally located for outings to the sightseeing-highlights of the Latio province: churches, abbeys, relicts from the Roman Empire, palaces from the renaissance era. But there is as well an impressing nature: steep hills, villages clinging to the cliffs of the appenine mountains, volcanic lakes and ancient towns on top of old volcanic conducts. To Rome it is a 60 minutes drive only, while taking the train from Tivoli is the better option, but the appeal of Casale Colleoni is in its rural tranquillity and its comfortable rooms in a historic place. Seven days, at best with a rental car, will either be total relaxation or full of impressing sights off the beaten path, depending on your preferences,
This place has so much character and the owners love their home and do their absolute best to help you love it too. Historical charm with modern facilities, Jiulie from Canada
The location of this beautiful old house is perfect for visiting Villa Adriana and Villa d'Este. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. They even brought us to a restaurant in their own car when it was raining! We had a large and comfortable sitting room, with a separate bedroom and bathroom. There was even a large terrace with a wonderful view of the countryside. Breakfast was excellent with fresh bread and croissants every morning, Lidia from Holland
Outstanding. Delightful, family-run establishment with incredible history itself. Spacious, quiet suite on the first floor. Very good continental breakfast, comfortable bed and well-appointed bathroom. Beautiful gardens including a cyprus planted in the Renaissance! Only 100m walk to Villa Adriana and worth spending at least a couple of days exploring Tivoli old town and Villa d'Este a must (another UNESCO world heritage site). Spectacular sunsets from Casale Colleoni. Richard from United Kingdom
Casale Colleoni was virtually "Enchanted April" to me, I wanted to stay a month! Unfortunately we only had one night as our flight left the following day, but I can dream about the next time! From our top floor suite there was an amazing (and different) view of the surrounding property out of large windows which could also be opened for a fresh breeze... from north to east to south. We enjoyed complete and quiet privacy in our suite, but also had great conversation with other guests in the dining room at breakfast, while being served freshly made lattes. Our hosts made us feel so welcome, and gave the impression that they would be completely available should we need anything - which we didn't, as everything worked perfectly. I will note that some might find the staircase tricky... it is a couple of floors up to the suite, and the last flight is a narrow, low, winding corkscrew... which we actually found completely charming! As we left, I was spontaneously given a sweetly scented rose picked from their garden, I now have petals from that rose pressed in my notebook. It's these little personal touches that make a stay more than just a place to sleep. We were enchanted, to say the least.
Truly an exceptional place with wonderful people. From the moment we arrived to the warm farewell we received, everything about this place was delightful. We loved it all: the travertine spiral staircase to our rooms, the views, the animals, the family running the place... I wish we could have stayed longer. This is small piece of heaven right next to Villa Adriana: it is worth the visit.
If you want a place to stay while seeing Hadrian's Villa you can't do better than this. It's less than 5 minutes walk to the Villa, and there are good restaurants just around the corner in town. The hosts are very helpful and considerate. Our room was more like a suite with lots of space, Steven from USA
The owner is an exquisite English lady who was really very friendly and careful for our needs. Wonderful breakfast. The accomodation wasn't a room, it was an entire apartment, big and charmful. Even there wasn't a TV, we went outside to play with dogs and two marvelous donkeys. Deborah from Argentina
It was very nice stay in this beautiful house. The building itself is bursting with old world charm. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. Our innkeeper, Marianne, was extremely gracious and helpful to us. I wanted to stay a month! Unfortunately we only had one night , but I can dream about the next time! From our top floor suite there was an amazing (and different) view of the surrounding property out of large windows which could also be opened for a fresh breeze... from north to east to south. I can recommend this B&B in the highest possible way.Natalia from Finladia
Beautiful building in stunning grounds. I stayed here on business and found the place to be perfect for my needs. The location is great for Tivoli and the wifi was great. I managed to do work in my room connected via a VPN and also stream a movie. For breakfast they bring in delicious pastries from a local bakery. The owners family were very hospitable and helpful, and even ironed my shirt. :-) I have already recommended it to my colleagues and will be staying here in the future when I return.

Tourism: useful information

TIVOLI: its origin is uncertain; the Romans believed that the city had been founded by the Sicilians. Conquered by Marcus Furius Camillus in 308 BC, Tivoli ("Tibur") became a Roman city and always was loyal to Rome. Located in the Aniene Valley at 230 m in height, had famous temples and in Roman imperial times was a fashionable site for vacation, where powerful and famous Roman personalities built magnificent villas. In late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages became a Byzantine Duchy, then it was part of the Holy Roman Empire and finally became a free city in 1816 when it was enclosed into the Papal State. It suffered serious destruction during World war II. From it famous quarries of travertine came the blocks that were used to build the most important monuments of Rome. Tivoli is worldwide famous for having two UNESCO sites: the magnificent Villa d'Este and the monumental complex of Hadrians’ Villa (Villa Adriana)
